Is comedy dead?

Well wrap me up and call me fish. I never thought I'd see the day.

I've been working my butt off trying to 'brand' myself as a writer of comedy. Now I'm told that's a bad idea because comedy doesn't sell. Who told me this? Someone who'd know and must remain nameless. Don't even ask.

So, from now on I write "fun, lighthearted, entertaining stories in a variety of genres." Got that? Not comedy. Oh no, not me. Hmmm... I'm going to have to retitle my blog. Any suggesstions?

Hi Ash!! Comedy dead?? I think not!! I actually look for books that have some romantic comedy...it relieves my stress...it helps me not to strangle people. *L* Uh-uh...I am not buying that. I honestly don't think that comedy will ever die-out as most people need a good laugh every now and again. I am sorry, but I have to disagree with that individual who gave you that information. As a matter of fact, I just spent an hour going over a book I want to buy...and it happens to be a romantic comedy! Am I the exception? Nope...we all like to laugh.

Keep writing your stories Ash...we love 'em!!

Hugs,

Maithe

Thanks you dear Maithe!

Ahhh... I needed that!

Ash *who has spent the morning writing without worrying about whether or not it was funny.

Hmm... Maybe this is actually liberating?

Oh no, I love some comedy or humor in a book; it adds a lightness to the story and whenever one can laugh or grin wide it is a benefit. Keep the humor in writing.

Hi Ash!

You know the old saying: if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...then it's got to be COMEDY!! You write romantic comedy, hunny. I see no need to rephrase what already perfectly describes your work. Keep doing what you do best!!!
